Canon has incorporated a capacitive “touch-pad” technology, commonly found in the smart devices nowadays, into the Quick Control Dial of EOS-1D C, EOS-1D X and EOS 5D Mark III. The touch technology enables a “Silent Control” option in EOS Movie. When enabled, Silent Control allows users to change shutter speed, aperture, ISO or audio recording level silently by simply touching the inner ring of the Quick Control Dial. This can prevent the recoding of dial clicking sound and also reduce the camera vibration when changing settings.
In addition to its conventional rotational operation, the Quick Control Dial includes a new capacitive touch-sensitive technology.
