Auction Rules
back
Club Canon’s on-line auction is operated by Canon Hongkong Company Limited (“Canon”) for the benefit of members of Club Canon.
These Auction Rules contain a summary of how the Auction works, how you can make a bid, and what happens if you win. However, for full details you should refer to the Auction Terms and Conditions. In the event of any discrepancy between these Auction Rules and the Auction Terms and Conditions, the latter shall prevail.

1. Eligibility
1.1  You may only submit a bid if you are either a privileged member or club member of Club Canon, and if you have read and accepted the Auction Terms and Conditions.

1.2  You may not enter an Auction or submit a bid if you:-

  (a) are not resident in Hong Kong; or

  (b) are not over the age of 18 years; or

  (c) you have been a winner of any other Auction held in the 6      months immediately preceding the current Auction.

2. Auctioned Goods
2.1  For each Auction, we shall select a particular Canon product to be auctioned (the “Auctioned Goods”). Full details of the Auctioned Goods will be displayed on the website. At our discretion, we may change the Auctioned Goods at any time.

2.2  The website will also specify the total number of Auctioned Goods which are available in each Auction. If, in any particular Auction, there is more than one item of Auctioned Goods available, the maximum number of items which any one user is eligible to purchase will be one.

2.3  The Auction website will also specify the minimum bid that will be accepted for the Auctioned Goods. We reserve the right to cancel the Auction and retract the Auctioned Goods if we do not receive any bids which are higher than the minimum bid.

3. Donation of HK$10 to Medecins Sans Frontieres Hong Kong
3.1  When you submit your first bid, you will be required to make a donation of HK$10 to Medecins Sans Frontieres Hong Kong using a valid credit card issued in your name. This money will be collected by Canon and paid in full to Medecins Sans Frontieres Hong Kong. This donation is non-refundable, even if your bid is not successful.

3.2  You will not be able to increase your bid unless and until the payment to Medecins Sans Frontieres Hong Kong has been processed.

4. Deduction of Club Canon loyalty points
4.1  Please be aware that, by submitting a bid in any Auction, you authorise us to deduct the relevant number (as specified in the website) of loyalty points from your ‘Club Canon Member Account’. These loyalty points will be deducted automatically once your first bid has been submitted and accepted. These points are non-refundable, even if your bid is not successful. However, once you have entered an Auction, no further loyalty points will deducted even if you subsequently increase your bid in that Auction.

5. Conduct of Auction
5.1  At the end of the Auction, the winner(s) will be the person(s) who, at the time of closing, has/have submitted the highest bid(s) (as determined by Canon in its sole and absolute discretion). If your bid is successful, you will be required to purchase the Auctioned Goods in question at the price contained in your winning bid. Once you have placed a bid, you may not withdraw or cancel it.

5.2  Each Auction will last for a set period, as specified on the website. During the Auction you may unilaterally increase your bid at any time. However, once the Auction has closed, no further bids may be accepted, and no existing bids may be increased.

5.3  The website will be updated from time to time to show the current leading bid(s).

6. Notification
6.1  If you are a winner, we will use reasonable efforts to send you by e-mail (within 7 days from the closing of the relevant Auction) confirmation that we have accepted your offer to purchase the Auctioned Goods (the “Order Acceptance”), and for the purpose of making arrangements for the transfer of the Auctioned Goods which you have successfully bid for.

7. Sale and Purchase of Auctioned Goods
7.1  Upon receiving the Order Acceptance, you will be required to pay the purchase price for 1 item of the Auctioned Goods. The price shall be the price of the last bid which you submitted, as confirmed in the Order Acceptance. You will be required to go to our on-line order service in order to pay the purchase price for the Auctioned Goods by credit card (Mastercard or Visa), but if you fail to do so within 5 business days, we shall be authorised to charge the purchase price to the credit card which you used when submitting your bid (and which was used for the donation to Medecins Sans Frontieres Hong Kong).

8. Collection of Auctioned Goods
8.1  You will be responsible for collecting any Auctioned Goods which you have purchased as a winner of an Auction. Once you have paid the price for the Auctioned Goods, we will send a notification you by email (the“Collection Notice”) informing you of where and when the Auctioned Goods will be available for collection, and you will have to collect them within the specified collection period, failing which we may terminate the contract and you will lose the right to collect the Auctioned Goods.

8.2  When collecting any Auctioned Goods, you will be required to produce your Hong Kong ID card and the relevant Collection Notice.

8.3  All Auctioned Goods will have the benefit of Canon's usual warranties, and full details of Canon's liability are set out in the Auction Terms and Conditions.
