Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hongkong)
held a kick-off ceremony tonight to officially announce the inauguration
of the first revolving neon sign in Asia, located at Oterprise Square
in Tsim Sha Tsui.
The second of its type in the world, the sign
takes between 4 to 5 minutes for each 360 degree-turn. Commencing
from 16 March 2006, it will revolve from 7am to 1am, while the neon
component will be illuminated daily from 5pm.
In a function held at the Hong Kong Convention
and Exhibition Centre, Mr. Kensaku Konishi, President and CEO of
Canon Hongkong and guests of honour Mr. Michael Suen, Secretary
for Housing, Planning and Lands, HKSAR Government; Canon's product
endorsers Mr. Ekin Cheng and Ms. Niki Chow were present to undertake
the lighting ceremony.

"The Canon revolving neon
sign is an exciting new landmark on Hong Kong's skyline and is an
excellent showcase for our brand," said Mr. Konishi. "The fact that
it's also a first in Asia is most appropriate for Canon, which is
a company that is always forward-looking and innovative."
Taking eight months to complete, the double-sided,
360 degree revolving sign weights 75 tons and measures 29 meters
by 7 meters. The 3,200 neon tubes used on the sign extend to a total
length of 6.5 kilometres.
Canon Hongkong also announced the opening
of a new Canon showroom and customer center located on the 10th
and 11th floors of Oterprise Square in early August 2006. Spanning
over two floors with an area of over 13,000 square feet, it is centrally
located in Kowloon's shopping district, offering convenience and
first-rate customer services. "More than 50 staff will be working
in the new showroom and customer care centre, we believe the new
centre will further enhance and strengthen Canon's services for
our customers," said Mr. Konishi.
