WWF Hong Kong, established in 1981, is one of the Hong Kong's leading environmental organizations. WWF Hong Kong aims to conserve the natural environment for our future generations by implementing wide-ranging conservation and environmental education programmes in Hong Kong and Mainland China regions.

Canon Hongkong Co., Ltd., shares its corporate philosophy, kyosei, to contribute to the prosperity of the world and the happiness of humanity, fully supports WWF Hong Kong through the following activities since 2003:

Year 2010

The eighth consecutive year as Diamond Member of WWF Hong Kong.
In 2010, CHK sponsored Save the Tiger – an online fund-raising photo sharing platform dedicated to raise awareness and funds for tiger conservation. Funds raised from this campaign will be used to support WWF's tiger conservation work in China. To take action to save 3,200 wild tigers remaining in the world now, WWF has declared 29 July 2010 to be Tiger Day, and target to double the population of wild tigers by 2022, the next Year of the Tiger.
On May 8, 38 CHK colleagues and their families enjoyed "Experience the Precious Marine Heritage Trip" at WWF Hoi Ha Marine Life Centre. During the half-day marine tour at the only sea-based marine education entre in Hong Kong, CHK staff experienced lime kiln introduction, plankton observation, glass-bottomed boat trip and sustainability themed game specially arranged by WWF eco interpreter.
On March 27, CHK echoed Canon Asia Marketing Group (CAMG) to support Earth Hour for the second consecutive year. 287 CHK staff pledged to support Earth Hour, and Canon Revolving Neon Sign, LED Wall, outdoor billboards and office lightings were all turned off during Earth Hour to show our determination to save our planet. On March 26, CHK joined "Dress Black Day" as a prelude for Earth Hour. Externally, CHK fully supported Low Carbon Everyday Photo Competition incorporated in Earth Hour to share the beauty of the photos with young and old.

Year 2009

On November 15, 25 CHK staff with their family and friends joined "Exploring Mai Po" Tour organized by WWF Hong Kong to appreciate the beauty of Mai Po Nature Reserve Area. Under the guidance of professional eco-interpreter, participants explored bird hides, Mai Po Education Centre and learnt more about WWF conservation projects.
On March 28, CHK echoed Canon Asia Marketing Group (CAMG) to support Earth Hour, a global light off campaign initiated by WWF to raise public awareness on climate change. 274 CHK staff pledged to support and Canon Revolving Neon Sign, LED Wall and office lightings are all turned into darkness for an hour to show the world a brighter future.

Year 2008

On November 2, 46 staff and their families and friends from CHK supported Walk for Nature @ Mai Po 2008 organized by WWF Hong Kong for the fifth consecutive year. With the theme of 'Sustainable Living' this year, CHK staff learnt about their ecological footprints and tips on how to live a sustainable lifestyle through this annual walkathon.
On September 28, 60 Canon staff participated in the Dolphin Boat Watch Trip organized by WWF Hong Kong. The Ship-owner specialized in marine habitats guided participants to the Lung Kwu Chau and Sha Chau coasts to trace the Chinese White Dolphins. After searching around, participants finally saw the White Dolphins and are pleased to take pictures to record the valuable moments. At the same time, participants gained knowledge of the habits and characteristics of the Chinese White Dolphins and the importance of marine conservation from WWF's interpreter.
On July 19, 18 Canon staff participated in Gei Wai Shrimp Cultivation organized by WWF. With detailed introduction by WWF professional interpreter throughout the trip, Canon staff experienced the traditional way to farm shrimps. Furthermore, they also learnt more about the wetland environment and livelihood of fishermen when visiting bird watching hide, mangrove, Gei Wai Museum, etc.
On Apr 13, Canon staff and their relatives were invited to join the Donor Education Programme by WWF in return for their tremendous support of volunteer day work at Mai Po last year. 31 Canon staff visited Hoi Ha Wan Marine Life Centre and viewed beautiful coral species underwater on the only glass-bottomed boat in Hong Kong. Through the trip with detailed instructions given by WWF staff, participants had granted knowledge of marine life particularly the coral community and further understand the importance of marine conservation.

Year 2007

On May 2, 35 Canon staff joined the Mai Po Volunteer Day in Mai Po Nature Reserve. The volunteer tasks included removing grass, especially the invasive species that harmful to the ecosystem of Mai Po Nature Reserve.
On Nov 4, 80 Canon staff and their family members joined the "Walk for Nature@ Mai Po 2007". This was the 4th consecutive year that Canon participated in this annual charity walkathon. The theme of this year was "Climate Change" with its aim to arise public awareness on the importance and urgency of climatic change.

Year 2006

The 3rd consecutive years for CHK joined as the major sponsor of "The Walk for Nature 2006" in Hoi Ha Wan, Sai Kung. On Mar 19, 81 Canon staff and their family members joined the "Nature Explorer" having a 5 km leisure walk while 17 Canon staff divided into 4 teams of "Nature Challenger" to challenge 25 km marathon within 8-hour limitation. The team from CHK ME Division completed its mission in 3 hours 40 minutes and won the second runner-up in Men's Open Category.
Followed the successful completion of Walk for Nature at Hoi Ha in March, WWF Hong Kong organized another charity walk at Mai Po held on Oct 15 and 22 that aimed to raise funds for environmental programe and enhance the public awareness about Hong Kong's precious wetland environment. CHK sent a corporate team of 80 staff joined the charity walk, enjoying the beautiful scenery as well as exploring the life of the freshwater species residents in the Mai Po Nature Reserve at the 8 interactive checkpoints along the 5-km route. Canon T-shirt Transfer Printing Counter was set up at the 2nd checkpoint to iron graphics on the event T-shirt for those who made donation to WWF Hong Kong. In total, the counter helped to raise HK$7,706 for the organization.

Year 2005

Major sponsored "Hoi Ha Charity Walk 2005" held on Apr 24. This event aimed to raise public awareness of the need to protect our natural marine heritage and the importance of its conservation. Out of the total 1,104 participants, around 70 Canon staff and their family members joined this Eco-Education walk along the beautiful Hoi Ha coastal path.
Participated The Donor Education Programme on May 7. Altogether 65 Canon staff visited Hoi Ha Wan Marine Life Centre built with the objective of conservation through education. This programme also includes Glass Bottomed Boat Trip viewing the beautiful natural coral species on the seabed. As a continuous supporter to WWF Hong Kong, Canon has the privilege to enjoy the tour before it opens to the public.
Supported the "WWF Flag Selling Day - Hong Kong Island region" on Aug 27, by forming a 14-volunteer team and raised HK$7229.1 in total to strengthen the future education and conservation programmes.
Sponsored the CHK-MSL team joining the "Big Fish Count 2005" held on Oct 2, which aimed to increase the public concerns on marine environment. The team has spotted 96 species within 8 hours and recorded species which is not easy to find in Hong Kong waters. Finally, they won the Big Fish Count Champion Award and the Professional Awards.
On Oct 9, 62 staff participated the boat trip to trace the Pink Dolphin around Lung Kwu Chau & Sha Chau water area. Representatives from WWF explained the dolphins history and habits in the natural marine environment. It effectively increased the awareness to conserve and protect this valuable marine heritage.

Year 2004

Sponsored "Guessing Game of the Big Fish Count 2004" Lucky Draw
Sponsored the "Humphead Wrasse" Public Awareness Campaign
Participated in volunteer work to clear redundant tree branches in Mai Po Reserve Park
Donation of cameras and binoculars to be used in the Mai Po Reserve Park, which enables visitors to capture the beauty of nature and enhances its communications and services.
Title sponsored "The 12th Discover Mai Po Charity Walk" held on Nov 28, Dec 5 and Dec 12. This is an annual charity walkathon aiming to increase public awareness and raise funds in support of environmental issues and conservation at Mai Po. Mai Po is a wetland of recognized international importance under the Ramsar Convention. A team of 102 Canon staff and their family members enthusiastically took part in this event among 2,700 participants.
Donation of Projector and Printers to be used in the Marine Life Centre newly built in Hoi Ha Wan in order to facilitate the education programme for the children.
