Canon Hongkong Company Limited (CHK) supported the Green Power Hike for the seventh consecutive year. By taking part in the walkathon, participants helped to raise funds for Green Power and Environmental Education Programmes in schools across the community.
The annual charitable walkathon was held on January 25, 2014. 11 CHK teams with 44 members demonstrated their support and mustered up the energy to participate in the 10km, 25km and 50km competitions. They had underwent a series of practices to warm up themselves and lastly, with their unity and outstanding performance, "Canon - 佳能輕鬆跑" and "Canon - 佳能飛毛腿" were attained the Champion and 2nd Runner-up in the 10km category of the Corporation / Organization Cup, by finishing the hike in 59 minutes 53 seconds and 1 hour 27 seconds respectively. These results not only marked a memorable day for the CHK participants, but also paved a greener way for future generations.
The Green Power Hike is one of the largest charitable walkathons in Hong Kong. In the past 21 years, more than 51,000 participants have walked for a better and greener environment, and raised approximately HK$67 million in donations, which have since been used to support local green education in kindergartens, as well as primary and secondary schools.
Founded in 1988, Green Power is a charitable institution which shows concern for local environmental issue, with environmental education as their first priority. Green Power believes education is the ultimate means to transform people’s thoughts and behaviors. |
