In line with Canon’s corporate philosophy “Kyosei”, Canon Hongkong (CHK) has been dedicating its unrelenting efforts as a green company, and thus to grow sustainably along with the environment and the society.
On December 18 at the Sustainable Business Award Presentation Ceremony, which was held at Carbon Zero Building in Kowloon Bay, CHK received the inaugural Sustainable Business Award from the Officiating Guest, The Hon Paul Chan Mo-po, MH, JP, Secretary for Development, recognizing it’s excellence in terms of workplace quality, environmental protection, operation practices as well as community involvement. The award presentation ceremony was followed by a sharing session, in which Mr. Philip Chan, Director of Business Imaging Solution Group of CHK, shared ideas with guests on CHK’s green culture and strategies on corporate governance.
The Sustainable Business Award, debuting this year, was organized by World Green Organization (WGO), with 10 awarded corporates selected by professional panel of judges. Starting from 2016, listed corporations in Hong Kong are required to comply with the new Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Reporting Guide, in order to enhance corporate transparency, and meanwhile to identify rooms of improvement on the corporate strategies on sustainable development. In view of this, WGO initiated The Sustainable Business Award, as a way to raise local businesses’ awareness of the importance of their contribution in ESG, as well as to encourage corporates to take their responsibility in achieving sustainable development with the society. |
