Canon Hongkong supported Business-School Partnership Programme to promote career planning of new generation

In 2014 and 2015, Canon Hongkong (CHK) supported the Business-School Partnership Programme (BSPP) - Student Ambassadors Experience Programme organized by Education Bureau (EDB), as a way to act out our strong desire to educate the next generation in the community. Throughout the programme, CHK offered short-term working opportunities to secondary school students, who could take chance to put classroom knowledge into real practice.

On 3rd December, the 10th Anniversary Ceremony of Business-School Partnership Program was held by EDB at Hong Kong Science Park. At the ceremony, CHK was honored to receive the Certificate of Appreciation for its support to the BSPP, and meanwhile had a fruitful exchange of ideas and experiences with other BSPP Partners.

Over the past two years, CHK has offered work experience opportunities to a total of 83 students in Secondary 4 and 5 from 23 schools. Working as Student Ambassadors at three of the CHK’s major corporate events, namely Canon PhotoMarathon 2014 & 2015 Hong Kong, and Canon x McDull Inter-school Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition cum Coloring and Design Contest Award Presentation Ceremony, students performed an array of on-site duties including registration, crowd control, game booths operation, souvenir redemption, as well as instant photo shoot & print service. Participating students indicated that their understanding on the event management industry have been enhanced through the real practice in planning and operations of large-sale activities. CHK believes that such work experience opportunities could enrich students’ experience, knowledge as well as their positive attitude, and thus encourage better career planning of them.

About Business-School Partnership Programme (BSPP)
The BSPP was first launched in 2005, in aid of enhancing co-operations and alliances between the business sector and schools. It leads students out of the classroom to gain a wider perspective of the world so that they can get prepared for life in the society. Through this new learning platform provided by the business sector, students will be able to know about different careers and understand the requirements of employers, enhance generic skills, develop correct work attitude and values which enable them to adapt to economic and social changes, hence ultimately achieve the goal of whole-person development.
