Canon Hongkong Company Limited (CHK) has always supporting different kinds of charitable activities to show its love and care to the community. This year, CHK joined “Dress Red for Thalassaemia” organized by Children’s Thalassaemia Foundation (CTF) the first time by calling its staff to contribute to the fundraising programs which aims to improve thalassaemia patient’s health and their life quality.
In two weeks’ fund raising period, 295 CHK staff (including Macau branch staff) committed to participate and raised a total of $23,795 donation to the said program. On May 13, all participated staff dressed in “Red” and put on the “Dress Red” pin to show their support to this meaningful event day, and at the same time to encourage more people to join hands together in helping the Thal-carrers.
According to the latest report, there are 550,000 people that are known to be Thal-carriers who suffered from Thalassaemia Minor, which occupied 8.5% of Hong Kong’s populations. For Thalassaemia Mojor, there are about 400 patients now in Hong Kong including not only children, but also teenagers and adults. All of them are needed special care and physical support in order to maintain their normal life.
