Despite advancing medical technologies, there is no substitute for blood and it has an expiry date from storage; the supply of blood relies entirely on the goodwill of voluntary, non-remunerated blood donors. As one of the contributor to help to ensure sufficient and fresh blood supply for medical treatment, Canon Hongkong Company Limited (CHK) has coordinating with Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS) to organize “Canon Blood Donation Day” twice a year at main office, to encourage canon staff to donate blood by providing a more convenient and comfortable environment.
On 22nd February, 60 CHK staff took the initiative to join the Blood Donation Day and 45 of them successfully passed the health scanning and haemoglobin test for blood donation.
About the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service
Founded in 1952, the Hong Kong Red Cross BTS is the only public institution providing blood to all hospitals, public and private in Hong Kong.
