Canon Hongkong continues its support to the University of Hong Kong’s Japan Month “Take a photo in a Kimono” for the 7th year
2018-APR-17

Canon Hongkong Company Limited (CHK) continues its support to the University of Hong Kong (HKU)’s Japan Month “Take a Photo in a Kimono: Japanese Traditional Inns and Their Great Female Managers” for the 7th year.

On 17 April, the pre-registered students gathered at HKU’s University Museum and Art Gallery to join the event. Two Okami-san (female managers) of traditional Japanese Inns were invited from Japan to Hong Kong, to demonstrate the proper way to wear a furisode (the most formal kind of kimono with long sleeves). Students were taught how to dress in these traditional Japanese costumes and enjoyed an exclusive photo shoot and print service offered by CHK.

About Japan Month

Japan Month is an annual Japanese Cultural Event, arranged by the Department of Japanese Studies, School of Modern Languages and Cultures, The University of Hong Kong, with the aim to cultivate Japanese cultural manners for local students.

Dr. Yoshiko Nakano (2nd from right), Associate Professor, the Department of Japanese Studies, School of Modern Languages and Cultures, HKU and two invited Okami-san from Japan (middle), to promote the traditional Japanese customs to local students.
