Canon Hongkong Announces New President and CEO

(Hong Kong, 3 January 2012) Canon Hongkong Company Limited (CHK) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Hisahiro Minokawa as the new President and CEO. He will take up the post as of 1 January 2012. In this position, Mr. Minokawa will be responsible for managing all the company’s operations of the region, which comprises Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan, the Philippines and Mongolia.

Other than Japan, in the 27-year time with Canon, Mr. Minokawa worked in Malaysia, Thailand and his role was extended to mainland China. In the past 3 years, he was the Vice President of Canon (China) Co., Ltd. and Chief Representative of East China, overseeing marketing and sales functions in Shanghai and 6 provinces business markets including Anhui, Jiangsu, Jiangxi and Zhejiang.

Mr. Minokawa will make an important contribution to CHK with his extensive management experience. He is excited for this new challenge, ‘I cannot wait to share my experience in China and other Asia countries with professional Canon Hongkong team. Following Canon Group’s strategy, I will drive the business growth of Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan, the Philippines and Mongolia with my utmost effort.’

Mr. Minokawa graduated from the Department of Economics at Keio University of Tokyo in 1985 and joined Canon Inc. Human Resources Division at the same year. In 1994, he has been promoted to Manager of Canon Opto (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. Then he became the General Manager of Canon (China) Business Imaging Solutions Department and General Manager of Chengdu office afterwards.

In 2005, he was working his way up to the President of Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and taking care business of all Thailand regions for 3 years. In 2008, he became the Vice President of Canon (China) Co., Ltd. and Chief Representative of East China.

Mr. Minokawa loves sports, enjoy playing golf and watching soccer game at leisure. Moreover, he likes traveling in order to experience culture of different places around the world.

The former CHK President and CEO, Mr. Kazutada Kobayashi, drove CHK group to achieve double-digit annual growth in 2011, and successfully launched his humanity management “Smile to Face the Challenges” in opposition to different circumstances. Mr. Kobayashi will take up the President and CEO of Canon India Pvt. Ltd. after 3.5 years at the helm of CHK.

Furthermore, CHK also endeavours to adopt internationally recognized management systems, having become certified in conformance with ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 in 2003, 2004 and 2005 respectively. CHK is certified to COPC-2000® CSP Standard in 2006.

Being a responsible manufacturer, Canon leads to be the first in global to set up its own Canon Toner Cartridge Recycle Factory located in Japan, China, U.S. and France since 1990 to make sure all collected toner cartridges are utilize as reused parts in new products. Up to-date, Canon has reduced the use of new resources by 150,000 tons and CO2 emission by 370,000 tons. Likewise, CHK from 2009 has established Ink Cartridge Collection boxes placed in voluntary schools, shopping malls, commercial centers and commercial buildings to collect used cartridges for recycling purpose.
