Canon New Flagship Professional Speedlite 600EX-RT with Radio Transmission Wireless Flash Unleashing High Quality Flash Performance with Maximum Flexibility |
Canon today announces the launch of the flagship professional Speedlite 600EX-RT with radio transmission wireless flash. Being the world’s first flash with integrated 2.4GHz radio transmission wireless flash master control1, Speedlite 600EX-RT can provide better multiple wireless flash control regardless of reception angles or obstacles. It offers an expanded flash coverage from 20mm to 200mm with a maximum Guide No. reaching 60 (meter; ISO 100; 200mm). Featuring a dot-matrix LCD panel for more flash settings information display and a dust and water resistance2 system equivalent to EOS-1D series cameras, Speedlite 600EX-RT empowers professional photographers with improved shooting reliability. | | | | The World’s First Flash with Radio Transmission Wireless Flash Control1, Opening up the Next Generation Wireless Flash System Speedlite 600EX-RT is the world’s first flash with integrated 2.4GHz radio transmission wireless flash master control1, representing the next generation in wireless flash system. Communicating on 2.4GHz frequencies, Speedlite 600EX-RT does not have the same directional limitations of traditional wireless optical transmitters, and is free from interruption due to reception angles or physical obstacles. 15 transmission channels are available and 10,000 radio transmission IDs can be set to prevent misfiring in the event of signal interference on the same channel, guaranteeing stable and reliable wireless flash performance. Speedlite 600EX-RT facilitates radio transmission up to 30m, among up to 5 groups3 with a total of 15 individual slave units for more flexibility in creating fabulous lighting effects with multiple wireless flash setup. The speedlite also supports bi-directional communication between master and slave units for enhanced operation flexibility, enabling remote release of the master camera's shutter with any slave unit from diverse angles, and with the new Linked shooting up to 15 EOS cameras4 can be released simultaneously to capture the decisive moment from various angles. A new wireless mode button is available for easy switching to wireless mode with just one press. In addition to radio transmission, Speedlite 600EX-RT is also compatible to Optical Pulse Transmission. | | | Refined Flash Performance for Professional and Versatile Flash Usage Speedlite 600EX-RT is designed to meet the professional flash standards that bring more effective flash photography in more situations than previously possible. It has an improved maximum Guide No. of 60 (meter; ISO 100; 200mm) and an expanded flash coverage of lens’ focal length from 20mm to 200mm (supports 14mm with wide panel). A range of flash modes are supported such as E-TTL II / E-TTL / TTL autoflash, Flash External Metering, Manual Flash and Stroboscopic Flash for meeting various needs under different situations. A new “Light Distribution” function allows 2 settings for flash coverage, either as “Guide Number Priority” for better telephoto flash or “Even Coverage” for more even light distribution across the whole frame. The Color Filter Holder SCH-E1 and Color Filter Set SCF-E1 that come with the speedlite can be used to optimize color temperature in tungsten light environment, and with the White Balance automatically adjusted and transmission of color temperature information, more superior flash performance can be assured. The AF-assist beam of Speedlite 600EX-RT is compatible with the new 61-point AF system of EOS-1D X and EOS 5D Mark III. It also supports autozoom control which automatically adjusts the flash coverage depending on the image sensor size. With silent recycling and the new optional fully recharged beep sound, and a reduced zoom drive time at start up to shorten time-lag, a higher degree of shooting responsiveness and comfort can be expected. Speedlite 600EX-RT features an overheat protection with warning sound to better prevent damage to the flash head and allow more number of continuous flash at the tele-end, allowing photographers to utilize the speedlite’s capability to its fullest in a well controlled manner. In addition, it supports bounce flash with bounce angle 90° up, 7° down and 180° left/right for more refined control on flash head angle to achieve the desired and natural lighting results. | | | Mastering Professional Flash Controls with Enhanced Operability Speedlite 600EX-RT is equipped with a new dot-matrix LCD panel for easier viewing and display of more detailed information. Coupled with the LED Backlit buttons, flash operation is easy even in the dark. Speedlite 600EX-RT is designed with enhanced controls to make operation simpler. It features an enhanced lock lever placement to allow more space for fingers and easier operation, a reshaped lock-release button for easier unlocking of the speedlite, and a new lock function at the power switch for locking all setting, dials and buttons to prevent inadvertent operation. Speedlite 600EX-RT offers 18 custom functions and 7 personal functions for more personalized flash operation according to each photographer’s preference. Flash settings can also be controlled through the menu of compatible EOS cameras5 easily. | | | Higher Level of Reliability for Shooting in the Tough Environment Speedlite 600EX-RT features a high strength metal mounting foot for secured flash installation. With an improved quick locking mechanism, hot shoe and contact reliability is further enhanced - a dust-wipe mechanism can remove dust and dirt stuck to the hot shoe contact, while a variable contact pressure design can improve transmission reliability by varying the pressure at the contacts, enabling the camera and flash contacts to remain firmly in touch while preventing scratches on the hot shoe, making it easier to attach and remove the speedlite. The speedlite will also implement 2-line transmission for important signals. With the backup contacts, transmission accuracy is greatly improved. Speedlite 600EX-RT also adopts a dust and water resistance2 design equivalent to EOS-1D series cameras for mastering the tough outdoor shooting environment. | | | Color Filter Holder SCH-E1 and Color Filter Set SCF-E1 Speedlite 600EX-RT comes with a dedicated Color Filter Holder SCH-E1 and a compatible Color Filter Set SCF-E1 comprising 1 high density tungsten light filter and 1 low density tungsten light filter for optimizing color temperature in tungsten light environment. Color Filter Holder SCH-E1 is also compatible to commercially available gelatin color filters for more flexible adjustment on flash color that corresponds to different lighting situations. | | | Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT The new Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT can work as radio transmission wireless flash master control and cover a maximum radio transmission distance of 30m in all direction. It can avoid interference due to reception angles or obstacles and control up to 5 groups3 and 15 slave units. With the newly supported Linked shooting, up to 15 EOS cameras4 can be released simultaneously. At the back of the transmitter is a dot-matrix LCD panel for display of more flash settings information. Durability and reliability is enhanced with its high strength metal mounting foot, an improved quick locking mechanism same as speedlite 600EX-RT and dust and water resistance2 design. | | | Speedlite Release Cable SR-N3 The optional Speedlite Release Cable SR-N3 enables wireless remote release and Linked shooting with Speedlite 600EX-RT or Speedlite Transmitter ST-E3-RT attached to current EOS camera4 to enhance the system’s compatibility.
