Canon New EOS 60Da DSLR Camera for Astrophotography Discover the Fathomless Beauty of Starry Night Sky with Exceptional Image Quality |
Canon is proud to introduce the new EOS 60Da Digital SLR Camera specialized for astrophotography*, meeting the needs of astronomy enthusiasts. Developed based on EOS 60D and inherited most of its superior functionalities, EOS 60Da features a modified low-pass filter that offers three times more transparency for Hydrogen-Alpha (H-α) light than EOS 60D, capturing crisp and clear images of diffuse nebulae. The introduction of EOS 60Da opens up a new dimension for ease of astrophotography enjoyment, as astronomy enthusiasts can now capture the wonders of night sky in brilliant details with easily achievable image quality and simple operation. Exceptional Image Quality to Unveil the Wonders of Night Sky Designed for astrophotography, EOS 60Da can capture diffuse nebulae, a favourite subject among astrophotographers, in better quality. Diffuse nebulae are formed mainly by hydrogen atoms. During the ionisation of hydrogen, a red, visible light of Hydrogen-Alpha (656nm) will be emitted, giving diffuse nebulae a distinct red colour. EOS 60Da features a modified low-pass filter which can achieve a Hydrogen-Alpha light sensitivity that is approximately three times higher than that of EOS 60D, capable for capturing the vivid reddish hues of diffuse nebulae in crisp and clear images. Diffuse Nebulae Shooting Comparison | | | | | | | EOS 60Da | EOS 60D | EOS 60Da is equipped with a 18-megapixel APS-C sized Canon CMOS sensor that works alongside a powerful DIGIC 4 digital image processor with 14-bit processing to realize excellent signal-to-noise ratio in final output data, ideal for astrophotography which often requires long exposure to produce images that are rich in natural colours with smooth tonal gradations. The rich detail in star clusters or the subtle colour transitions of interstellar gas clouds can be captured. EOS 60Da offers a wide range in ISO speeds from ISO 100 to ISO 6,400, and is expandable to ISO 12,800. Delivering an advanced noise reduction performance, the camera brings expanded shooting flexibility with the high ISO settings while ensuring unsurpassed images which are low in noise. Simple Control with Maximized Flexibility to Capture the Cosmos EOS 60Da is easy to use with improved shooting flexibility, empowering the users to discover more in astrophotography. EOS 60Da is equipped with a vari-angle 3.0-inch, 1,040,000-dot, 3:2 aspect ratio Clear View LCD screen and supports Live View mode, enabling crisp images of the stars and planets to be viewed on screen for easy composition, focusing and access to various camera settings. Users can also magnify image up to 10x in Live View mode, enabling more precise manual focusing when attached to a high power telescope or wide-angle lens. Moreover, Live View mode is equipped with a Silent Shooting feature that eliminates shutter-induced vibration for maximum imaging stability when the camera is mounted to a telescope or EF super-telephoto lens. The flip-out vari-angle screen also allows photographers to adjust the screen for easy viewing and adjusting camera settings without straining even when the camera is mounted on a tripod. Versatile Accessories for Expanded Compatibility To address the specific needs in astrophotography, EOS 60Da is compatible with a range of accessories. It is packaged with a Remote Controller Adapter RA-E3, providing the ability to connect to a Timer Remote Controller TC-80N3 (optional accessory). With TC-80N3, the exposure time in bulb mode can be set precisely. For interval shooting, the interval time and number of consecutive exposures can also be controlled. An AC Adapter Kit ACK-E6 is also included with EOS 60Da, allowing the camera to be powered by AC outlet for long exposure shooting. *EOS 60Da is specialized for astrophotography.
