The Shutter Clicks on Seventh Canon PhotoMarathon 2015 Hong Kong

Results announced today after review by professional judging panel

(Hong Kong, 19th December 2015) Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hongkong) held its seventh annual awards ceremony at Canon Pro Solution Hub today, announcing the Grand Awards from Challenge and Open category along with Gold, Silver, Bronze and Merit Awards for a total of 32 prizes worth over HK$240,000.

The Canon PhotoMarathon 2015 Hong Kong competition was held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC) on 22nd November 2015. 2,600 contestants were required to complete a series of photographic missions, spreading out across the city to capture unique images of Hong Kong inspired by the slogan “Shoot for Hong Kong”. Entries were divided into two categories – Challenge and Open – with different checkpoints in place to further challenge contestants’ photography skills and endurance.

The judging panel consisted of three professional photographers and a Canon HongKong representative who selected the final winners from over 6,000 remarkable shots. All photographs were evaluated on a range of criteria including creativity in interpreting the theme, use of colour, light and shadow, composition and relevance to the theme. Ms. Yip So, with the theme “Balance / Equilibrium” was the winner of this year’s Open Category Grand Award and Mr. Spencer Goh, working under theme “Perspective / Transparent”, is the winner of this year’s Grand Award from the Challenge Category. The judging panel commended the two winners on completing the race within the time limit and producing a unique and skillful interpretation of the theme, fully realizing the “Shoot for Hong Kong” spirit. The two winners will be representing Hong Kong in the “Canon Photo Clinic” in Northeastern Japan & Hokkaido and the Canon PhotoMarathon Taipei respectively in 2016.

One of the judges, Mr. Vincent Cheung, Senior Director and General Manager of Consumer Imaging & Information Group and Corporate Communications Division of Canon Hongkong, said, “Canon PhotoMarathon has been blessed with participation from photo enthusiasts over the past seven years. In that time, we have observed an increase in the quality of photos and the diversity of technical skills, with pictures that demonstrate an ever deeper interpretation of Hong Kong. Canon Hongkong nurtures photography culture in Hong Kong and we are happy to witness the advancement of photo enthusiasts.”

All the results are announced on the official website at http://www.canon.com.hk/photomarathon
