Canon “FOR EXPERT‧BY EXPERT” Presents “The Chase For Speed”
High-Speed Photography Exhibition’s Kick-Off Seminar Highlights
Renowned for its commitment to promoting photography culture, Canon Hongkong organizes a wide range of photographic activities and gathers professional photographers to share their passion and work. This summer, Canon’s "FOR EXPERT.BY EXPERT" presents "The Chase for Speed" exhibition and seminars – the latest series on high-speed photography featuring three extremely talented local photographers selected from Canon Pro Ambassador program including Raymond Ng, Brian Ching and Create Images. Their stunning work will showcase their unique interpretation of high speed.
"The Chase for Speed" photo exhibition runs from 8 to 28 August at Jockey Club Innovation Tower, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. A total of 6 seminars will also be held on 16 August and 23 August, in which the photographers will share their experiences working in high-speed photography with photo enthusiasts. The kick-off seminar has been held by professional photographer Raymond Ng on 16 August. Live demonstrations were conducted to wow the participants with the excitement of high-speed photography.
Inspired by everyday experience, Raymond has created two photo series —"Phubb Off" and "Eternity" for the exhibition. During the seminar, he mentioned that the aim to capture the explosion of smartphones and flowers is to deliver a message to society, about rethinking the meaning of modern ways of communication and life. To get a perfect high-speed shot, photographers need to possess an acute sense for lighting and movement as well as professional shooting equipment. In Raymond’s opinion, the photographers have to predict the movement path prior to shooting and accurately control the time to shoot. With great patience and after rounds of trial and shoot, everyone should be able to create successful images that freeze the high-speed motion.
Live demonstration of capturing the moment of explosion was the highlight of the event. Participants were invited to capture the amazing explosion of water ball and splashes in a split second, on a shooting set-up prepared in advance by Raymond and the crew. A lot of interaction and exchanges were done in an easy and lively way between Raymond and the participants.
High-speed photography is considered one of the most difficult genres of photography. If you want to feast your eyes with stunning photo collections of the three professional photographers and search for more creative inspirations, don’t miss the chance to join the exhibition and seminars.
