In 1997, Canon launched the industry leading Speedlite 550EX with a revolutionary optical pulse transmission wireless multiple flash system. Since then, photographers are able to use multiple speedlites to handle small scale shooting such as simple portrait or product shooting. With the advancement of technology, flash output becomes more powerful. An increasing number of professional photographers choose to replace portable studio flashes with multiple speedlites even for larger scale on location shooting, e.g. fashion or corporate photography. However, the line of sight limitation of optical pulse transmission hindered the setup of flashes and use of flash accessories.
Answering the need of professional photographers, Canon leads the industry once again with the built-in 2.4Ghz radio transmission wireless multiple flash system in the flagship Speedlite 600EX-RT. This next generation wireless multiple flash system does not have the same directional limitations of traditional optical wireless transmitters, and is free from interruption due to reception angles or physical obstacles, bring a more stable and reliable wireless flash performance. Speedlite 600EX-RT facilitates radio transmission up to 30m, among up to 5 groups# with a total of 15 individual slave units for more flexibility in creating fabulous lighting effects with multiple wireless flash setup.
