EOS Utility is computer software bundled with EOS Digital SLR cameras. By connecting the EOS camera with computer with a USB interface cable, you can use EOS Utility on a computer to control the shooting of EOS Digital DSLR camera remotely and to configure camera functions and settings.
EOS Digital SLR camera with built-in Wi-Fi can also connect to EOS Utility via a wireless network. The effective range of built-in Wi-Fi is approximately 30m, which makes remote shooting more flexible by freeing you from the limitation of USB interface cable length. (Maximum length of USB cable is around 5m)
“Operate the camera remotely using EOS Utility” Connection (Infrastructure Mode)
Tips |
1. Before starting wireless connection, please eusure that “WFT Pairing Software” has been enabled in computer. |
2. Apart from “Infrastructure mode”, you can use “Ad-hoc mode” to make direct wireless connection between EOS camera and computer, without additional network devices e.g., router. |
3. “Infrastructure Mode” connection is more stable than “Ad-hoc mode” in general. If you need to use EOS Utility with Wi-Fi in a place where no network device (routers) is available, we recommend you to prepare a compact travel router available in the market to connect EOS camera and computer with “Infrastructure Mode” . |
4. The rate of image transmission with Wi-Fi connection is slower than that with USB connection, the motion of moving subjects may not be displayed smoothly in Remote Live View Shooting. |
