EOS Movie Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro

Apple Final Cut Pro 7 is popular non-linear editing software; however it does not have native support to the EOS Movie footage in H.264 format shot. By installing Canon EOS Movie Plug-in E1, You can import the EOS Movie footage into Final Cut Pro 7 using the "Log & Transfer" function. The transcoding of H.264 format movie into Apple’s ProRes codec is approximately three times faster with EOS Movie Plug-in E1 than Compressor. You can also add timecode, reel names and metadata to footage.

1) Choose "Digital Cameras" in "Category".
2) Choose "EOS" in "Series".
3) Choose your EOS model in "Model"
4) Choose "Drivers & Softwares" in "Document"
5) Look for "EOS MOVIE Plug-in for Final Cut Pro 1.x"

After installing the EOS Movie Plug-in E1, open the Final Cut Pro 7 and launch the "Log & Transfer".


Click the top left "Folder" icon inside the "Log & Trasnfer" windows to find your EOS Movie footages

After the footages have been loaded, you can now start logging and trimming each clip. Any changes made here will not affect the original footage, changes will be saved to your Final Cut Pro Project. Log & Transfer will convert the footage to Apple ProRes or Apple Intermediate Codec in .MOV format. You can change the setting by clicking the "Gear" icon in the top middle of the Log & Transfer window.

This is the Import Preferences panel. Find the "Canon E1" section and choose the codec you want to convert into (Default setting is Apple Pro Res 422). Click OK to confirm the setting.

Select the footage you want to convert and click "Add Selection to Queue" to continue the import process.

After conversion, you can now start editing the footage.
