L-COA is an SOC (system on chip) that contains two high-speed RISC processors for high-speed data processing. Canon combines its advanced image processing algorithms with high-speed printing, which drives an ultra high-density print head with 15,360 nozzles. As a result, fine lines and black text can be sharply reproduced at high speed.
Improved Design for Ease of Use

The model features fully front-accessible operations to allow ink replacement, paper loading, and even paper jam clearing to be performed easily from the front. iPF681 also features a slide-in loading system in which paper rolls are first placed on top of the printer, then slid in along guide rails.
Flatbed media stacker supports high volume printing that stacks standard size drawings in the order of printing without being bent or folded.

The iPF681 includes a permanent self-propelled double rotary cutter for cutting capabilities superior to single rotary cutter, a pioneering feature. It is able to cut a wide range of media.

Canon's unique sub-ink tank system allows the user to replace ink on-the-fly without stopping the printer. A high-capacity media basket comes standard for long print runs. Its highly durable self-propelled dual rotary cutter makes even faster printing of multi-page jobs possible.
Free Layout

The "Free Layout" function treats the print results from each application as a single object. It can easily edit each object such as alignment, expansion, reduction and rotation in the same operation.

Print Job Accounting Manager

The Print Job Accounting function allows tracking print jobs by individual user to calculate ink, media costs, and the number of pages printed.

Print Plug-in for Microsoft Office

This utility makes it easy to print large-format documents created in Microsoft Word, Excel, or PowerPoint. The Plug-in appears in a tool bar inside the Microsoft application and has an easy-to-follow "Wizard". The Plug-in will bypass the printer driver to simplify the printing process. A few simple steps convert 8.5" x 11" office document to poster size.

Files and scanned data in various formats can be uploaded and downloaded to and from cloud-hosted storage. In response to HP-GL/2 and HP RTL, it has evolved as a more plotter for CAD. It allows for a more high-definition line drawing output and high-quality image data output, and supports a variety of CAD applications.
