Corporate Management Seminar 2009 was jointly organized by Canon Hongkong Co., Ltd and AM730 on Friday, the 22nd of May. Guest speakers included Mr Raymond Fung, Vice President of Business Imaging Solution Group from Canon Hongkong Co., Ltd, and Mr Shih Wing Ching, Chairman of Centaline Group and AM730. The seminar was hosted by Ricky Lo, Associate Publisher of AM730.
Course Outline
| At the seminar, Mr Fung and Mr Shih discussed how corporate culture help raise the competitiveness of organizations which attracted numerous management personnel from various industries to take part in. | ||||||||||||||||
| "Kyosei" is the corporate philosophy of Canon, which means "living and working together for the common good". Mr Fung pointed out that "Kyosei" is important not only in an organization, but the industry as a whole. "When Canon created a new technology/product, we will share it with our industry, so as to further develop more innovative products for our people. This is what it means by working together for the common good and Canon will continue to hold onto this concept", Mr Fung said. | ||||||||||||||||
| Mr Shih agreed and further explained that it is important to provide room for individual development in an organization so that members of the organization can learn and develop on their own. "It is as important that the company is being transparent in terms of information communication, so that each employee knows exactly what their job duties are and the importance of those duties, thereby raise their motivation and incentives in completing them. This also helps in organization development", Mr Shih added. | ||||||||||||||||
| In conclusion, corporate culture blends people's values and visions. It comes to its efficiency depending on people, time and place. However, it could become symbolic and meaningless if it isn't being used in the right manner. On the contrary, if it is being used at the right time and place, it can be beneficial to any organizations. | ||||||||||||||||
