“Canon Hong Kong and Macau 2-year Supreme Protection Plan” Terms & Conditions (EOS DSLR Camera)
 
 

Important notice:

Accidental Protection is only applicable to specific cameras purchased before 1st August 2016 and successfully completed the warranty registration within 30 days from the date of purchase. If the camera is purchased on or after that date, it will not be eligible to the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan.

Standard Warranty

Customers who purchase EOS 70D / EOS 760D / EOS 750D / EOS 700D / EOS 100D Digital SLR camera can enjoy standard warranty period of one or two years^#, for any defect in the said cameras that arises and that is covered by the Warranty in the 2-Year Supreme Protection Plan.

^ Standard warranty period should base on the “Warranty Period” stated on the Purchase Record Card.

# If customers successfully completed the product warranty registration within 30 days from date of purchase, an additional 3-month warranty will be offered. For further details, please refer to "Warranty Registration Procedure".

Accidental Protection*1

"Accidental Damage Repair Plan"

If the damage to the EOS 70D / EOS 760D / EOS 750D / EOS 700D / EOS 100D cameras are covered by the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan, and the EOS 70D / EOS 760D / EOS 750D / EOS 700D / EOS 100D cameras can be repaired by Canon in a cost-effective manner, then Canon will provide repair services for a repair fee of not more than HK$400 (EOS 760D, EOS 750D, EOS 700D, EOS 100D) / a repair fee of not more than HK$600 (EOS 70D).

"Accidental Damage Replacement Plan"

i. If the damage to, or robbery or burglary of*2, the EOS 760D / EOS 750D / EOS 700D / EOS 100D cameras are covered by the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan, and occurs in the first year of the Warranty Period, Canon will offer to sell the customer a new or replacement camera*3 at a discounted price of only HK$800. For EOS 70D, Canon will offer to sell the customer a new or replacement camera*4 at a discounted price of only HK$1200.

ii. If the damage to, or theft or robbery of, the EOS 70D / EOS 760D / EOS 750D / EOS 700D / EOS 100D cameras are covered by the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan, and occurs in the second year of the Warranty Period, Canon will offer to sell the customer a similar camera model*3 at a price that is 50% of the replacement camera's original list price (as determined by Canon).

*1 Customers are entitled to avail of either maintenance or discount purchase, and can enjoy these services only once.

*2 Customers must submit the police report for proof

*3 In case of any disputes, CHK reserves its rights of final decision.

The above 2-year Supreme Protection Plan shall be bound by the relevant terms and conditions.

Warranty Registration Procedure

1. Customers must register the camera within 30 days from date of purchase to enjoy an additional 3-month warranty service after the expiration of the “2 Years of Protection Plan”

2. Once Canon has received the duly completed online warranty registration, Canon will send the customer a confirmation letter (the "Confirmation") by e-mail, after which the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan will be valid for the EOS 70D / EOS 760D / EOS 750D / EOS 700D / EOS 100D cameras specified therein.

Note: If customers do not receive the confirmation letter in two weeks after online warranty registration, please call at 3191-2333 for enquiry.

Claims Procedure

If the camera requires repair or replacement under the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan, the customer must notify Canon by submitting 'The Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Form' (available from Canon upon request).

1. The Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Form and supporting documents must be submitted to Canon within fifteen (15) days of the date upon which the customer discovers that the damage, destruction or theft (due to Burglary / Robbery) has occurred.

2. The Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Form must be accompanied by*4

i. The original Purchase Record Card for the Camera;

ii. the original confirmation letter sent to you by Canon;

iii. The original receipt for the Camera;

iv.  The Camera (if available); and

v. A signed Police report, if the Camera has been damaged, destroyed or loss as a result of a burglary or robbery.

*4 The Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Form must be signed and submitted by the person whose name is on the online warranty registration for the Digital SLR camera (or, if the person named in the Online Warranty Registration is a company, by a nominated representative as specified in an authorization letter from that company). If requested by Canon, that person (or its nominated representative in the case of a company) must present his or her identification document to Canon for verification.

Important note

  • If the specific camera is purchased on or after 1st August 2016, the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan will not apply.
  • This Warranty and the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan only applies to the Camera purchased in Hong Kong SAR and Macau SAR.
  • The Warranty and the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan does not cover any lens (whether as part of a kit or otherwise).
  • This page is intended for information purposes only, and does not constitute a warranty or any other form of representation or protection by Canon to customers. The terms and conditions of the Warranty and the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan are fully and solely set out in the 2-Year Supreme Protection Plan document.
  • In case of any dispute regarding the Warranty and the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan, the decision of Canon shall be final.
  • This protection plan is only applicable to Hong Kong and Macau SAR region.

“Canon Hong Kong and Macau 2-year Supreme Protection Plan” Terms & Conditions

Thank you for purchasing a Canon EOS 70D / EOS 760D / EOS 750D / EOS 700D / EOS 100D Digital SLR Camera.

This camera is eligible for protection under Canon’s special ‘2-year Supreme Protection Plan*, which is in two parts and includes (1) Canon’s standard warranty as set out in Part I below (the “Warranty”), and (2) Canon’s ‘Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan’ as set out in Part II below (the “Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan”).

In order for the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan to be valid, you must register your brand new camera within 30 days from the date of purchase of the camera, and the attached Purchase Record Card of the camera must:-

(a)          specify the product name, model number and serial number of the camera which you have purchased (the “Camera”); and warranty period, warranty type;

(b)          be stamped by an authorised dealer’s stamp and signature, confirming the date of purchase of the Camera.

Once we have received the duly completed Warranty Registration, we will send you a confirmation letter (the “Confirmation”) by e-mail, after which the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan will be valid for the Camera specified therein, upon and subject to the terms and conditions set out below, for a period stated on the Purchase Record Card (the “Warranty Period”).

PART I : WARRANTY

1.            Canon warrants that the Camera shall be free from defects during the Warranty Period. This Warranty does not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

2.            If the Camera develops a defect during the Warranty Period (whether by reason of defective materials, production faults or otherwise), Canon will repair the Camera free of charge and shall replace any damaged or defective parts. Notwithstanding the foregoing, this Warranty does not cover any of the following:

(i)            any defect in the Camera not arising from fair wear and tear, wilful damage, negligence by you or any third party, use otherwise than as recommended by Canon, or failure to follow any instructions contained in the instruction or user manual or any other instructions given by Canon; or incurred during transportation of the Product not carried out by Canon;

(ii)           damage to or defects in accessories or optional units such as power cables, external power adapters, interface cables, batteries, video cables, covers, remote control units, chargers, memory cards, the CCD or CMOS sensor, the LCD unit, LCD display and viewfinder. (Canon reserves the right to amend the list of optional units and accessories without prior notice);

(iii)          damage resulting from the use of non-genuine Canon parts or accessories, inappropriate voltage, accidents or other events (such as riots, strikes, fire, flooding and other acts of God) beyond Canon’s control; and/or

(iv)         damage to or defects in any instruction or user manual(s), any software provided with the Camera, or any compact disk relating thereto, or any damage arising from the installation of any such software or the use of the Camera with any other hardware.

3.            This Warranty shall be automatically cancelled, and Canon shall have no liability hereunder, if the Camera or any part(s) thereof are modified, tampered with, altered, converted or repaired in any way by any person other than our staff or our authorised service providers.

PART II : ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT PLAN

1.            Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan.  If, during the Warranty Period, the Camera is damaged, destroyed or loss within the Territory (as defined in Clause 9 below) as a result of any Relevant Incident (as defined in Clause 6 below), then Canon will repair or replace the Camera in accordance with the provisions of this Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan.

2.            Repair.  If the Camera is damaged (and provided that it is eligible for repair or replacement under this Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan), and if Canon determines (in its sole and absolute discretion) that the Camera can be repaired in a cost effective manner, then Canon will repair the Camera and replace any damaged or defective parts. You will be required to pay Canon a repair fee of not more than HK$400 (EOS 760D / EOS 750D / EOS 700D / EOS 100D) / repair fee of not more than HK$600 (EOS 70D), which will cover all costs of the repair (including any replacement parts).

3.            Replacement.  If the Camera is destroyed or loss (due to Burglary / Robbery), or is damaged but can not be repaired in a cost effective manner, (and provided that it is eligible for repair or replacement under this Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan), then Canon will offer to sell you a Replacement Camera (the “Replacement Camera”) at a discounted price, subject to the following terms:-

(a)          The purchase price for the Replacement Camera will be:-

(i)            HK$800 (EOS 760D / EOS 750D / EOS 700D / EOS 100D ) / HK$1200 (EOS 70D), if the date of the Relevant Incident occurred within the first year of the Warranty Period; OR

(ii)           Fifty percent (50%) of the Replacement Camera’s original list price (as determined by Canon in its sole and absolute discretion), if the date of the Relevant Incident occurred within the second year of the Warranty Period;

(b)          Any offer to sell you a Replacement Camera shall be conditional upon title to and ownership of the original Camera (if available) passing absolutely and irrevocably to Canon, and you shall be required to deliver up to Canon, or Canon shall be entitled to keep, (as the case may be) the Camera, and you shall have no further rights or interest in respect thereof.

(c)           The Replacement Camera to be offered for sale to you will be the same model as the Camera which has been destroyed, stolen(as a result of Burglary / Robbery) or damaged beyond repair, or if that model has been discontinued or is otherwise unavailable, the Replacement Camera will be the nearest equivalent model (as determined by Canon in its sole and absolute discretion); and

(d)          The Replacement Camera will be sold to you subject to Canon’s terms and conditions of sale which are in force at the time when the sale of the Replacement Camera is concluded, save and except that the Replacement Camera shall not be eligible for protection under this or any other Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan (although it will be covered by Canon’s standard warranty for the remainder of the original Warranty Period). In accepting the offer to purchase the Replacement Camera, you will not be entitled to accept or take advantage of any other offer or promotion then being offered by Canon to its customers or the public in respect of the Replacement Camera.

4.            One-time Claim Only.  Notwithstanding any other provision contained herein, you shall be entitled to make not more than one (1) claim for the repair or replacement of the Camera under this Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan. Once the Camera has been repaired or replaced in accordance with Clauses 2 or 3 above, neither the repaired Camera nor any Replacement Camera shall be eligible for any further repair or replacement under this or any other Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan.

5.            Canon’s Decision Binding.  Canon shall be entitled, in its sole and absolute discretion, to determine whether the Camera can be repaired in a cost effective manner, or whether to offer to sell you a Replacement Camera, and any such determination by Canon shall be final and binding upon you. You shall not be entitled to request or demand that Canon offer to sell a Replacement Model to you if Canon determines that it is able to repair the Camera.

6.            Relevant Incident.  For the purposes of this Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan, a “Relevant Incident” shall mean and include the following:-

(a)          Accidental Damage.  Any accidental damage to or destruction of the Camera arising from any cause other than an Excluded Cause and within the Territory (see Clause 9);

(b)          Burglary.  Any theft of the Camera from within your registered residential or business premises (the “Premises”), by any person or persons who wrongfully or without permission enters the Premises (whether by use of force or violence, or by use of tools, explosives, electricity or chemicals, or otherwise), or any damage to or destruction of the Camera caused as a result of such a burglary, but excluding any such burglary arising from an Excluded Cause; and

(c)           Robbery.  Any theft of the Camera by any person who, immediately before or at the time of stealing the Camera, and in order to do so, uses force or violence on you or any other person, or puts or seeks to put you or any other person in fear of being subject to force or violence, or any damage to or destruction of the Camera caused as a result of such a robbery, but excluding any such robbery arising from an Excluded Cause.

7.            Exclusions.  Canon will not be obliged to repair or replace any Camera which is damaged, destroyed or loss as a result of any of the following events (each an “Excluded Cause”), each of which is expressly excluded from the definition of a Relevant Incident:

(a)          any wilful or intentional damage to the Camera caused by you or any member of your family (or any other person acting in accordance with your instructions or with your express or implied consent), or any fraudulent, dishonest or criminal act by you or any member of your family (or any other person acting in accordance with your instructions or with your express or implied consent), in each case whether acting alone or in collusion with others (save and except as a result of a burglary or robbery as defined in Clauses 6(b) and (c) above);

(b)          theft or loss of the Camera (save and except as a result of a burglary or robbery as defined in Clauses 6(b) and (c) above);

(c)           war, whether or not declared, civil war, insurrection, rebellion or revolution, or any act or condition incidental to any of the foregoing;

(d)          confiscation, destruction, retention or requisition of the Camera by any customs authority or by order of any Government or other Authority, or due to any risk of contraband or as a result of any illegal or unlawful activity;

(e)          nuclear reaction, nuclear radiation or radioactive contamination, or any act or condition incidental to any of the foregoing;

(f)           change in temperature or humidity, failure or inadequate operation (or any variation in temperature) of an air-conditioning, cooling or heating system;

(g)          burglary which has been caused or facilitated by the use of any key (or any duplicate thereof) to the relevant Premises, irrespective whether or not the said key belongs to you;

(h)          transportation of the Camera by land, air or sea, unless hand-carried by you;

(i)            atmospheric conditions (other than rain, lightning, storm or tempest);

(j)           fair wear and tear, gradual deterioration, any process of cleaning or restoring or any adjustment, repair or dismantling of any part of the Camera (other than by Canon or its authorised service providers), rust, change of color or corrosion;

(k)          any use of the Camera otherwise than as recommended by Canon, or failure to follow any instructions contained in the instruction or user manual or any other instructions given by Canon;

(l)            the use of non-genuine Canon parts or accessories or any third party parts or accessories;

(m)         any denting or scratching of the Camera which does not affect its function or performance;

(n)          mold or inherent vice;

(o)          any software, hardware, microprocessor or other device that actually or allegedly fails, partially fails, is impaired by, causes damage (including infection of software or data) or is in any way affected by the change in date to the year 2000, or any other date change, including leap year (the so named Year 2000 Computer Bug, Millennium Bag, Y2K Computer Challenge or as otherwise known); and/or

(p)          any act of terrorism, or any action taken in controlling, preventing, suppressing or in any way relating to any act of terrorism, regardless of any other cause or event contributing concurrently or in any other sequence to the damage, destruction or theft. For purposes of this endorsement an “act of terrorism” means any act, including but not limited to the use of force or violence and/or the threat thereof, of any person or group(s) of persons, whether acting alone or on behalf of or in connection with any organisation(s) or government(s), committed for political, religious, ideological or similar purposes including the intention to influence any government and/or to put the public, or any section of the public, in fear.      

8.            Further Exclusions.  Notwithstanding any other provision hereunder, Canon will not be obliged to repair or replace any Camera in any of the following circumstances:-

(a)          If the Camera has been obtained or procured by you as a result of any fraudulent or illegal act;

(b)          If you have failed to take all reasonable precautions for the safety and protection of the Camera at all times;

(c)           If you do not submit your claim for repair or replacement to us in accordance with the claims procedure set out in Clause 10 below; or

(d)          If, at the time of the loss, damage or destruction, the Camera is insured under any policy of insurance (including without limitation any household insurance or any insurance provided by any credit card company or otherwise) which entitles you to claim any amount in respect of the value of the Camera as a result of the said theft, damage or destruction. When making any request for repair or replacement under this Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan, you will be required to declare that the Camera is not covered by any such insurance.

9.            Territory.  For the purposes of this Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan, the “Territory” shall mean the Hong Kong SAR and the Macau SAR (including any direct transit between the Hong Kong SAR and the Macau SAR). The addressed registered for warranty must be within the Territory. Canon will not be obliged to repair or replace any Camera which is damaged, destroyed or loss (due to Burglary/Robbery) outside the Territory.

10.          Claims Procedure.  If the Camera requires repair or replacement under this Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan, you must notify us by submitting a “Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Form” (available from Canon upon request), in accordance with the following terms:-

(a)          The “Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Form” must be submitted to us within fifteen (15) days of the date upon which you discover that the damage, destruction or loss (due to Burglary/Robbery) has occurred. Canon shall have no liability to repair or replace any Camera if the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Form is not submitted within these time limits.

(b)          The “Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Form” must be signed and submitted by the person whose name is on the Online Warranty Registration for the Camera (or, if the person named in the Online Warranty Registration is a company, by a nominated representative as specified in an authorisation letter from that company). If requested by Canon, that person (or its nominated representative in the case of a company) must present his or her identification document to Canon for verification.

(c)           The Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Form must be accompanied by:-

(i)            the original Purchase Record Card for the Camera, together with the copy of confirmation letter sent to you by email by Canon;

(ii)           the original receipt for the Camera;

(iii)          the Camera (if available); and

(iv)         a signed Police report, if the Camera has been damaged, destroyed or loss as a result of a burglary or robbery.

(d)          The Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Form (and accompanying items) must be submitted to our Canon Customer Care Center at 20th Floor, iSQUARE, 63 Nathan Road, TsimShaTsui, Kowloon, HK.

(e)          Your claim for repair or replacement will only be assessed and processed in Hong Kong SAR.

PART III:               TERMS APPLICABLE TO BOTH WARRANTY AND ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT PLAN

1.            Non-authorised Dealers.  Notwithstanding anything herein contained, neither the Warranty nor the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan shall cover any product which is not sold or supplied by Canon or its authorised dealers in the Territory, and we shall not have any liability or responsibility to repair or replace any such product.

2.            Confirmation.  The Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan shall be valid only once you have registered the Camera and we have sent you a Confirmation by e-mail.

3.            Exclusion of Lens and Accessory. The Warranty and the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan shall not cover any lens purchased together with the Camera (whether as part of a kit or otherwise).

4.           Limitation of Liability.  The Warranty expressly provided herein is the sole warranty provided in connection with the Camera, and no other warranty, expressed or implied, is provided, and no Canon entity outside the Territory shall have any duty, obligation or liability to repair or replace the Camera. Canon’s obligations to repair or replace the Camera as set out in Parts I and II above shall be the extent of Canon’s liability, and Canon shall not be liable, in any other way whatsoever, to you or to any other person in respect of the Camera. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary contained herein, Canon shall not, except in respect of death or personal injury caused by the gross negligence of Canon, be liable to you or any other person by reason of any representation or implied warranty, condition or other term, of any duty at common law, or under the express terms hereof, for any consequential loss or damage (whether for loss of profit or otherwise and whether occasioned by the negligence or otherwise in connection with any act or omission of Canon) relating to the manufacture, supply, repair or replacement of the Camera or its resale or use by you or any other person.

5.            Eligible Persons.  Only the person named (any nationality included) in the Online Warranty Registration may enforce either the Warranty or the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan. If the person named in the Online Warranty Registration is a company, then Canon may require an authorisation letter from that company, authorising a nominated representative to submit the Camera for repair or replacement, and to collect the repaired Camera or any Replacement Camera.

6.            Property of Replaced Parts.  All components or parts which are replaced by Canon under the Warranty or the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan shall become the property of Canon.

7.            Language.  These terms and conditions have been prepared in English and Chinese. In the event of any discrepancy or inconsistency between the English and Chinese versions, the terms of the English version shall prevail.

8.            Insurance.  Nothing in these terms and conditions shall be deemed or construed to be a policy of insurance between Canon and you. Canon shall not be responsible or liable for any insurance in relation to the Camera.

9.            Governing Law.  The Warranty and the Accidental Damage Repair or Replacement Plan shall be construed and governed by the laws of the Hong Kong SAR.

10.          Products under specific terms and conditions that are entitled to additional warranty service are entitled to enjoy the benefits mentioned above and in the terms and conditions for the additional 3-month warranty. In case of any disputes, CHK reserves its rights of final decision.
