Canon Hongkong Supported ORBIS Moonwalkers for the 2nd consecutive year to Save Sight for the Preventable Blind

Canon Hongkong (CHK) continues to support the annual fundraising ORBIS Moonwalkers for the 2nd consecutive year to raise awareness and funds to save sight for the preventable blind.

At midnight on Saturday, December 3, 2011, approximately 11,000 people including CHK colleagues gathered for the 6th ORBIS Moonwalkers annual fundraising event for a 20-km walk from Wanchai Sports Ground to Repulse Bay Beach. To make this Moonwalkers an even more meaningful and fun event, ORBIS prepared a 10-minute Blindfold Challenge and Light Painting for participants to experience the obstacles of navigating in the dark and how it will feel to be blind.

The success of the 6-hours exploration in the dark demonstrated participants around the nation came together to bring hope to those 39,000,000 blind people worldwide that and to raise greater awareness to this cause.

ORBIS was established in 1982 as an independent, non-profit making organization that strives to combat blindness with numerous aims such as the world’s first flying eye hospital, is a great example of the initiatives taken by ORBIS.

CHK colleagues showed their support to global blindness by participating in the ORBIS Moonwalkers 2011.

Participants had an unforgettable and inspiring experience during the 10-minute Blindfold Challenge.

CHK colleagues successfully completed the 20-km walk at around 3:45am with heartfelt smiles.
