On 25th November, Canon Hongkong(CHK) received HKQAA-HSBC CSR Advocate Mark in recognizing its committed CSR performances towards the community of Hong Kong at HKQAA Symposium 2011.
This year, a total 23 government departments and renowned corporations have participated in the Hong Kong CSR Advocate Index and have yielded an average score of 4.62 (out of 5) which edged up for the second year. All participating companies were assessed by 40 CSR practices categorized in seven core subjects of ISO 26000 Guidance on Corporate Social Responsibility including Organization Governance, Human Rights, Labor Practices, The Environment, Fair Operating Practices, Consumer Issues and Community Involvement and Development.
In order to promote the culture of corporate social responsibility in Hong Kong, HKQAA published "Corporate Social Responsibility in Hong Kong" in October 2011. As an excellent global corporate citizen and "HKQAA-HSBC CSR Advocate Mark" holder, CHK is invited to share in section "Corporate Governance" to explore the importance of practicing corporate social responsibility during its business operation.
Jointly launched by the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) and the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) since 2008, HKQAA-HSBC CSR Index is the first ever CSR Index established in Hong Kong that provides a quantitative metrics to measure organization’s maturity level in practicing their social responsibilities. The HKQAA-HSSBC CSR Index involves two composite indices namely Hong Kong CSR Advocate Index and Hong Kong 100 CSR Index. The Index aims to promote the application of the newly launched ISO 26000 Guidance on Social Responsibility and helps the participating organizations aware of their CSR maturity.
Established by the Hong Kong Government in 1989, the Hong Kong Quality Assurance Agency (HKQAA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting industry and commerce to develop effective quality management systems. |
