Corporations and event organizers are encouraged to operate their events in a greener way in order to echo the world’s efforts to mitigate the global warming and climate change crisis. Canon Hongkong (CHK) takes the lead by turning its events into Carbon Neutral and receives the first CarbonCare® Label from Carbon Care Asia (CCA).
On 17th January, carbon management specialist CCA presented CarbonCare® Event Labels to recognize those companies contributed to organize Carbon Neutral events. CHK being one of the awardees took tangible actions in mitigating climate change impacts by turning its Canon Photo Marathon 2011 and participation at Eco Expo Asia 2011 into Carbon Neutral events, which in line with its carbon caring management and operation style.
CarbonCare® Label is a newly released scheme for awarding recognition to measures taken by organizations in achieving continuous carbon reporting and remarkable reduction results in their organizational, activities or products levels. In particular, CarbonCare® Event is one of the categories under the Labeling Scheme, which supports organizations to achieve Carbon Neutral status for their events, through measuring and reducing the event’s footprint, and balancing the rest through purchasing carbon offsets. The Labeling scheme, issued by CCA, was developed according to international standards, guidelines and local practices.
