Canon Hongkong supported “Genki Japan Exhibition in Hong Kong” demonstrating the latest photo imaging technology
 

A year has passed since the Great East Japan Earthquake, the Foreign Ministry of Japan organized “Genki Japan Exhibition” in Beijing, Shanghai and Hong Kong to show appreciation for the help and support received from China and Hong Kong region. The exhibition aimed to show the newest Japanese gourmet, tourism, fashion and technology to the public which it is a real “Genki” (Energized) Japan. It was also one of the key celebration programmes of the 40th anniversary of normalization of Chinese-Japanese relations.

“Genki Japan Exhibition in Hong Kong” was successfully held for 5 days from 23rd – 27th March at Kowloon Bay International Trade & Exhibition Center attracting over 59 thousands of public to visit for free. During the exhibition, there were 11 Japan prefectural sightseeing service counters and various Japanese industries showcased their high technology products and latest news, such as robots, fashions, cosmetics and tourism. The famous girl group, AKB48, popular Harajuku model and other popular performers were also invited to perform and entertain.

Canon was honorable to be invited as one of the exhibitors for the show in the 3 touring cities. In Hong Kong, Canon Hongkong (CHK) set up a free photo shoot & print service for the public enjoyment. By jointing hand with “Friends of Fukushima”, the beautiful Fukushima scenery which should once existed was rebuilt for photo shooting. 2,437 pieces of photo were printed in 5 days exhibition. Besides, the latest digital compact camera and All-In-One printer were also showcased to public for touch and trial to bring a fun and joyful experience of Canon products to customers.

Inspired by the nuclear incident in Fukushima, “Friends of Fukushima” is set up by a circle of Hong Kong people who cared about the damaged environment in Fukushima and want to do something to help.

  Mr. Masaki Hirata, Executive Director of Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) Hong Kong Office, together with Mr. Hisahiro Minokawa, President & CEO of CHK, presented the award certificate and the Canon PowerShot SX230HS digital compact camera to the winner of “Japan, Endless Discovery” Photo Contest.
 
 

Canon PowerShot digital compact cameras (Canon PowerShot G1X & Canon PowerShot S100) and Canon PIXMA All-In-One printer were showcased for public touch & trial. Professional Canon staff was willing to provide product information and specifications to customers for better understanding of the products.

11 Japan prefectural sightseeing service counters were set up and high technology products like robot were displayed. Visitor can also have a good try to the Japanese tea and sushi food on site. Numbers of famous Japanese artists and groups were invited to perform, including folk entertainment from Northern Area & Ondekoza to perform traditional Japanese dance and music.
