Since its official establishment in 2015, Canon Hongkong (CHK) Corporate Volunteer Team has been encouraging CHK staffs to spread love and care to the society by true actions. On July 17, CHK, together with Kowloon Kindness Centre of St. James’ Settlement (SJS), organized “Canon Volunteer Day – Summer Trip to Ma Wan” in aid of providing participants a valuable chance to enjoy a family day, as well as a day for children to learn and get engaged with the society through a series of visits and workshops, as a way to promote social inclusion.

Throughout the day, over 150 children and their family members spent a happy day and toured around Noah’s Ark Theme Park with 41 CHK corporate volunteers, visiting different attractions and enjoying a lunch buffet together. Aside from fully sponsoring the activity expense and guiding the one-day tour, CHK Corporate Volunteer Team also provided “Canon Instant Photo Shoot & Print” Service to the participants, in utilization of Company’s imaging expertise. A total of 275 photos were printed and given out throughout the day, capturing and sharing the joy of each participating family. In addition, CHK also spread the joy of photography by loaning digital compact cameras to 27 families. After then the volunteer team will prepare customized DVD photo albums with the collected photos, so as to share the precious memories with the families.

This is the largest scale volunteer service ever held by CHK Corporate Volunteer Team since its establishment in last year. Volunteers are grateful to see participating families and children all enjoyed the journey, in which they’ve also built mutual trust and share happiness with each other. Looking forwards, the growing team will continue its efforts in expanding the service scope, so as to send care and supports to needy from more extensive sectors of the society.

Mr. Shunichi Morinaga, President and CEO of CHK, received the souvenir from the participant representatives. The souvenir is a meaningful one as it was a hand-made art piece from beneficiary ladies in SJS Kowloon Kindness Centre.

Volunteers prepared and distributed special goodie bags to all participants at the event.

In utilization of Company’s imaging expertise, CHK Corporate Volunteer Team provided “Canon Instant Photo Shoot & Print” Service to the participants, capturing the joy of each family.

Volunteers took parts in shooting snapshots for participants at the event. Meanwhile, CHK also shared the joy of photography by loaning digital compact cameras to 27 families.

Participants took photographs with 67 pairs of life sized animal sculptures at Ark Garden, and meanwhile visited Ark Expo to walk through the floods at the 4D cinema and explore nature sceneries.

Guided by the docent, participants experienced interactive games at Ark Life Education Centre, learning to appreciate and enjoy life’s beautiful moments. The DIY workshop also allowed participants to make little gifts for their beloved one.

Volunteers guided the children through the Treasure House, from where they could discover the wonders of life, culture, science, history and music etc through the sensory experiences.

The tour at Fire Education House enriched participants’ knowledge of fire precaution. Children could even taste the experience of saving lives in smokes in the Smoke Evacuation Training zone!
