Incorporating Large 1.5” Type CMOS Image Sensor to Bring
Revolutionary Low-Light Capability and Enhanced Star Shooting Functions
Combined with Top Image Quality, Shooting Flexibility, Expandability and Convenient Wi-Fi Remote Shooting and Image Sharing

Canon introduces the new flagship PowerShot G1 X Mark II Digital Compact Camera to take prosumer compact cameras to a new dimension! Incorporating a large 1.5" type CMOS image sensor, the new-generation DIGIC 6 digital image processor and a f/2.0 large aperture, the camera realizes a dramatic improvement in low-light shooting capability and supports the Enhanced Star Shooting functions with a new Star Portrait mode added, enabling easy capture of the beautiful starry sky with high quality and detailed images. PowerShot G1 X Mark II also features a Wi-Fi Remote Shooting function1 via smart devices to make shooting from creative angles easier, and a built-in Wi-Fi Wireless Transfer function2 for instant sharing of high quality images. Built with a new dual control rings that allow users to enjoy expert control and flexibility, coupled with accessorizing capacity for expanded creativity expression, PowerShot G1 X Mark II opens a new world of imagination through a perfect combination of superior image quality, creative shooting functionalities and shooting flexibility.

Enhanced HS SYSTEM integrating 1.5" type high sensitivity CMOS image sensor and ultra-fast DIGIC 6 digital image processor
PowerShot G1 X Mark II features an enhanced HS SYSTEM which integrates the new-generation DIGIC 6 digital image processor and Canon's large 1.5" type 13.1-megapixel high sensitivity CMOS image sensor with a surface area 4.5 times larger than the 1/1.7" type sensors utilized by other prosumer digital compact cameras, resulting in a significant increase in light-gathering capability for improved signal-to-noise ratio. It is especially useful for shooting with high ISO settings at low-light situations to ensure sharp and gorgeous nighttime images. In addition, users can choose to shoot in RAW or RAW+JPEG format to save images as uncompressed 14-bit RAW file that offers rich color gradation and can be post-processed with greater variability. RAW shooting also supports multi-aspect ratio selection including 1:1, 16:9, 4:3, 3:2 etc to cater to different intended usages.

Compared to its predecessor, the new-generation DIGIC 6 possesses a 9 times faster data processing speed to achieve beautiful image quality with little noise. Improved high ISO shooting can also be expected, producing images with exceptional details and image sharpness. Benefited from DIGIC 6's ultra-fast data processing speed, PowerShot G1 X Mark II offers a continuous shooting speed at up to 5.2fps3 in full resolution to ensure capturing of all the dynamic and decisive moments. DIGIC 6 also brings better camera control experience to users. An improved interface can show more setting information in details. Coupled with customizable shortcut buttons for frequently used functions, users can make well-informed adjustments of settings easily and quickly and enjoy greater shooting flexibility.

f/2.0 large aperture 24mm ultra wide-angle 5x optical zoom lens for expanded shooting range
PowerShot G1 X Mark II features a large aperture lens which offers f/2.0 at the wide end and retains f/3.9 at the tele-end, allowing more light to reach the sensor for enhanced low-light shooting performance. The incorporation of the f/2.0 large aperture with 9-blade circular aperture diaphragm not only produces shallow depth of field to make the subject stand out, but also creates smooth and beautiful circular bokeh. The camera offers a 24mm wide-angle focal length, coupled with 5x optical zoom power and a minimum focusing distance of 5cm to allow flexible capture of distant scenery, close-up and macro shots effortlessly. It also features a lens-shift type optical Image Stabilizer (IS) to ensure sharp and clear images, and a built-in ND filter ideal for shooting with slow shutter speeds under bright environment for expanded creativity expression.

Enhanced Star Shooting functions with new Star Portrait mode to capture the beauty of starry sky in high quality photos and movies
Thanks to the exceptional low-light capability of PowerShot G1 X Mark II, enhanced Star Shooting functions with the first-in-market Star Portrait mode are supported. With the new Star Portrait mode, the camera will take individual images of the subject and starry sky using flash and slow shutter respectively, and automatically merge the images into one perfect shot that captures both beautiful portrait and stars. Improved functions and settings are also added for taking Star Nightscape and Star Trails images as well as Star Time-Lapse movie4. More tail and trail effects, selectable shooting intervals and playback frame rates are now available for Star Time-Lapse movie. When taking Star Nightscape image, apart from letting the camera select automatically the optimal aperture, shutter speed and ISO speed to conduct the shooting, users can also select the newly added function to emphasize only bright stars or shoot with Manual mode to create the result as desired.

New Wi-Fi Remote Shooting function via Smart Devices to realize more creative shooting angles
PowerShot G1 X Mark II features a new Wi-Fi Remote Shooting function1 via smart devices, allowing users to realize more creative shooting angles. With this function, users can mount the camera on a tripod and control it remotely to take self-portraits or group photos conveniently, or take photos of the natural scenery and wildlife animals from a high or low angle flexibly. Upon connection, users can enjoy live view on the smart device, control zooming and flash operation of the camera and trigger self-timer operation. The photographed image will be displayed instantly on the smart device for easy checking of the photos.

New NFC Connection and Wi-Fi Wireless Transfer function for quick and easy image sharing
PowerShot G1 X Mark II features a built-in Wi-Fi Wireless Transfer function2 for easy and instant image sharing, printing and backup. A new Mobile Device Connect button provides added convenience by simplifying wireless sharing process with a one-touch connection to the pre-set smart phones. With a Wi-Fi network, high quality images and movies captured can be uploaded directly to social networking sites such as Facebook or YouTube. Images can also be sent wirelessly to smart phones and tablets, or to other Canon digital cameras5 for easy sharing or backup without any cable connection needed. In addition, the camera newly supports NFC (Near Field Communication) for direct connection and image transfer to Android phones or tablets6. Simply turn on the NFC function on your Android devices and touch your device to the NFC icon on the camera body, the CameraWindow application on your device will be launched automatically, making image sharing easier and quicker than ever.

The Wi-Fi Wireless Transfer function also supports wireless photo printing through wireless connection with printers that support PictBridge (Wireless LAN) technology. This allows convenient and direct printing of images stored in the camera anytime, anywhere. In addition, GPS function from smart devices7 is also supported, allowing accurate GPS data reception both indoor and outdoor by smart device. Connect the camera to the smart device after shooting, GPS data including shooting location and time will be transferred and combined with the images, allowing easy image review, searching or creation of travel blog in future.

Extensive Control with new Dual Control Rings and 3-inch 1.04M-dot vari-angle Touch LCD
PowerShot G1 X Mark II inherits the use of control dials on the camera body and adds the new dual control rings on the lens for quick and intuitive access to a range of functions and settings. Based on individual shooting preference, each ring is customizable of operation functions, including aperture value, shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation, manual focus, white balance, aspect ratio, dynamic range correction and shadow correction, delivering expert control and flexibility. A new 31-point AF system is also incorporated to bring expanded focusing area and more precise performance. When shooting in AF mode, users can make full time manual focusing adjustment by turning the foremost continuous ring, coupled with a peaking function that works at the same time to indicate the area in focus with a colored box, fine-tuning focusing can be done quickly and accurately to help achieve sharp-looking macro or portrait shots.

The camera is built with a 3-inch 1.04M-dot vari-angle capacitive type touch LCD monitor with multi touch capabilities. Simply with a touch on the LCD monitor, users can select functions and adjust settings from the menu, or select the subject to focus and shoot. Multi touch capabilities such as "pinch-to-zoom" and "swiping" to scroll between images during image playback are also supported. The monitor can be tilted up approximately 180° and down approximately 45° to facilitate easy shooting from high or low angle. A built-in dual-axis electronic level allows easy checking of horizontal accuracy on the LCD monitor to ensure precise composition.

Enhanced creative potential through expanded accessories
PowerShot G1 X Mark II is built with a hot-shoe which supports Canon's EOS Speedlite flashes8 to create versatile and professional studio lighting effects. It is also compatible with a range of accessories to accommodate different shooting subjects and needs. EVF-DC1 is the first optional electronic viewfinder that can be used on Canon Digital Compact Camera. With up to 2.36M dots, this viewfinder ensures sharp and bright display throughout the entire visible area with key information such as shutter speed and ISO shown. With an optional Filter Adapter FA-DC58E, the camera supports a range of 58mm filters, including the PL-C Polarizing Filter made for nature photography to achieve more saturated blue skies and greenery in higher contrast and reduce reflections.

Full HD Movie Shooting with enhanced Dynamic IS and Powered IS

For steady movie result, the built-in enhanced Dynamic IS can reduce shakings caused by handheld shooting at wide angle, while the Powered IS is made to improve motion compensation at the tele-end. Work perfectly with Scene Detection technology, the camera can intelligently select the optimal settings for up to 21 pre-set scene modes for movie shooting. In addition, a Hybrid Auto mode is also added. It is a fusion of Movie Digest10 and Auto modes where up to 4 seconds of HD movie will be recorded alongside a still image to capture all the amazing moments. All movies captured during the day can also be edited and merged automatically into one single movie of the day for easy review or uploading.

About Canon Hongkong Company Limited
Canon Inc. (TSE:7751 / NYSE:CAJ) was founded in 1937 in Japan. Its predecessor, Precision Optical Instruments Laboratory, produced Japan's first 35 mm focal-plane-shutter camera in 1934, called the Kwanon. Canon Inc. eventually expanded into the photocopying and printing industries, launching Japan's first plain-paper copier in 1970 and the world's first inkjet printer in 1985. With over 70 years of experience in imaging products manufacturing, Canon's global revenue currently stands at US$35.5 billion (as of 31 December 2013). The extensive resources it devotes to research and development has made Canon one of the U.S. imaging industry's top technology patent-holders, and the only manufacturer across the globe to offer both input and output device solutions to the world's various imaging needs.

As one of the company's earliest offices in Asia, Canon Hongkong Co., Ltd. (CHK) was established in 1971. It is responsible for the sales, marketing and services for all Canon product lines in Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan, the Philippines and Mongolia, including its digital cameras, digital video camcorders, printers, copiers, scanners, projectors and other imaging merchandise. CHK adheres to Canon's corporate philosophy, kyosei, which in essence motivates the company with its staff to proactively strive for harmonious coexistence with other citizens through participation in various social, charitable and environmental activities. Since 2005, the Hong Kong Council of Social Service has awarded CHK the Caring Company Logo by way of recognizing CHK's continuous efforts to contribute to the local community. Furthermore, CHK also endeavours to adopt internationally recognized management systems, having become certified in conformance with ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007.

Being a responsible manufacturer, Canon became a global leader in 1990 by being the first to set up its own Canon Toner Cartridge Recycle Factory located in Japan, China, U.S. and France, to make sure all collected toner cartridges are utilised as reusable parts in new products. Up until 2012, Canon had reduced the use of new resources by 201,000 tons, and CO2 emissions by 450,000 tons. Likewise, since 2009 CHK has established Ink Cartridge Collection boxes in voluntary schools, shopping malls, commercial centers and commercial buildings in order to collect used cartridges for recycling purposes.
